Hey everybody – I just wanted to throw up a quick post to let you know about this new I just found out about. It turns out that there is actually a way to copy wii games without installing a mod chip.

It’s a little tricky and technical, but here are the instructions for my fellow geeks. Basically what this involves is installing a custom IOS. (IOS36 currently).

Caveat: If you want to know how to copy Wii games, but you’re not a geek, or not comfortable with any of these instructions, Click Here for the “Easy Button” method.

Instructions

Ok, so everyone who’s still with us, let’s get started.

Step 1: Download the IOS

Download the files for the custom IOS. I’m not including a link, since they change so frequently. You’re a geek. Check the discussion boards! Copy the download into the root of your SD Card.

Step 2: Install the IOS

Open the Homebrew Channel -> click on ”Apps/cIOS Rev7/boot.dol” -> click “Load” -> Choose “WAD Install” -> then restart your Wii.

Step 3: Install DVDx

Get back into the Homebrew Channel -> Select Apps/DVDx/boot.dol -> Choose “Advanced Install” for the IOS that you installed above -> Click “Done”

Step 4: Install Backup Loader

This is part is critical is you want to copy Wii games. In the Homebrew Channel (yet again) select Apps/WADManager1.3/boot.dol -> Hit “Load’ -> Select “Backup Loader (x.x)” -> Hit “Done”

Step 5: Make sure that you have all of the latest patches!

                                                                 *******

I know that this is a difficult and “geeky” method, but if you’re wondering how to copy Wii games, it’s a great (and free) way to go about it without voiding your warranty. Just remember, if you ever do have to send the console back in for service, uninstall the hacks first if possible so that you don’t tip off the repair team!

If you have a few dollars to spend, though, (and I do just mean a few) – I would recommend checking out this cool new software that you can download that allows you to make backups and copies of Wii games just using your computer’s CD or DVD burner. For the price, it saves a lot of hassle!

Click Here to see if Game Copy Wizard software is right for you.

Do you want to copy Wii games without all of the hassle?

A lot of the game copy software out there can’t get past all of the protection and encryption on the latest year’s video game releases.

Game Copy Wizard can. Guaranteed. Try it now, risk free.

If you’ve done any research into how to copy wii games before finding this site, you’ve undoubtedly come across the term “mod chip.”

But what is a mod chip exactly? Well, a mod chip is a small device that you install inside of your Wii that will allow you to do things that the manufacturer did not intend , such as

Play burned games

Play games from other countries

Play games off of the homebrew channel

Installing a mod chip can present some problems, though. Before we look further at mod chips, I want to briefly touch on these. By installing a mod chip so that you can copy wii games, first realize that you are irrevocably voiding your warranty. Secondy, realize that these chips can be a relatively expensive solution, sometimes costing into the hundreds of dollars. Finally, they can be a bit tricky to install, requiring at least *some* technical know-how.

Click here to see my preferred solution for how to copy wii games without a mod chip.

The Two Types of Mod Chips

Let’s look at the two different types of mod chips. The first type is the one that’s been in use for quite a few years now – these are the traditional solder on mod chips. This involves opening up your Wii, using a soldering gun to attach the mod chip, and then upgrading the device’s firmware.

When you consider that you are working on the “guts” of your expensive Wii AND at the same time voiding the warranty, it’s not for the faint of heart! It is, however, the less expensive type of mod chip.

The second type of mod chip is the brand new, “clip on” type. The great thing about these is that no soldering knowledge is required. You do still have to open up your Wii (thereby voiding your warranty) and upgrade the firmware, but the installation of the chip itself is a snap.

One issue that has been reported with using these type of chips as a solution to copy wii games is that sometimes they can come loose. When this happens, you have to get out your toolkit and reopen the Wii to fix it.

I’ve been using mod chips for years, but I was kind of sick of having a voided warranty. When I got my current Wii, I started playing around with a few different ways of making copies of Wii just using software on my computer. When my friends ask for advice on how to copy Wii games, recently I’ve started recommending my favorite software based method.

Find out more about Game Copy Wizard here, and start playing copied games instantly.

Want to learn how to copy Wii games the easy way?

If you’ve tried other methods of copying video games, you’ve probably experienced your fair share of disc errors and discs that wouldn’t boot. Game Copy Wizard can get through any disc encryption, and make discs that play the first time, every time. Try it now, risk free.

Hello, and welcome to HowToCopyWiiGames.Net! I wanted to let you know what to expect from this site in the near future.

Have you ever wanted to back up or copy Wii games? There are a ton of different methods out there. Some of them involve some pretty technical skills, some are software based, and some just plain don’t work.

I’m not a big fan of the “game on CD” based format. It’s not fair to the consumer to have to pay $40 – 50 or more for a game that is useless once the CD or DVD that it comes on gets scratched. I’ve actually written about this issue on some web-based tech magazines before.

I’ve been backing up my games for years, and now, with the Wii being such a popular console, but having such tough encryption on it, I have all kinds of people wanting to know how to copy wii games.

One of the main reasons for starting this blog is for me to have someplace to point everyone who asks about this - someplace where I have pre-typed instructions and information about how to burn wii games so that I don’t have to explain things so many times.

Anyway, if you’re looking for the latest info and reviews on copying, backing up, and burning wii games, I hope you’ll check back here soon for more.

Thanks for reading.
