Copy Wii Games in 7 Easy Steps
Have you ever wondered if it’s possible to copy Wii games? If so, you’re not alone. According to Google, almost 10,000 people search for answers to that question every single month. But there is a lot of misinformation out there. Some sites are just trying to hawk modchips. Others are just trying to get you to click on ads. In this article, I intend to explain exactly how to copy Wii games – step by step.
First, you need to gather the necessary equipment. You’ll need a Wii and a game to burn, of course. Then, you’ll need a computer (Windows or Mac) that has a DVD burner installed. You’ll need a blank DVD (either + or – R are fine). Finally, you’ll need some game copy software installed on your computer. If you don’t have the game copy software already, I highly recommend a software package called “Copy That Game”. You should be able to find it with a simple Google search.
Second, you need to insert the Wii disc into your DVD burner on your computer. Launch the game copy application that you installed. At the top of the screen, there will be a few drop down menus. Pick the one that says “mode”, and then drill down and select “read” mode.
Third, the application will prompt with a list that has all CD or DVD drives on your computer. Select the one that you loaded the Wii game into – this will tell it to rip the contents of the disc in that drive. There will also be an option on the screen asking you where to save the contents of the disc that it rips. I recommend making a folder on your desktop called something easy to remember like “game rips”. Finally, give the file a name, so that it’s called MarioKart.ISO or something.
Fourth, select the option that says “start read now”. The software automatically begin the rip procedure and will put the contents of the file into the folder that you specified, with the file name that you chose.
Fifth, the backup operation will complete after anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes depending on your computer’s speed. When it’s done, it will play some jaunty music and display a “finished” message.
Sixth, you will need to remove the Wii disc from your DVD burner, and replace it with a blank DVD. Bring the game copy application back up, and put it into “write” mode, the same way that you put it into “read” mode previously. Again, select the disc drive for it to use. This time, where it asks for a file, browse to the file in the folder that you just created. Hit “start”.
Seventh, it will run again for 5 to 15 minutes, and then play it’s jaunty little tune to let you know that the copy has finished. Remove the disc and label it with a sharpie marker.
Finally, put the game into your Wii and see if it loads. If it does, then you’re all set! Game on! If not, then you’ve created a coaster and obviously you went wrong somewhere. If that’s the case, then start back at step 1 and try again!
